The key achievements of the committee are:
Active participation in dialogue and projects aimed at the strengthening of human rights education agenda in Australia ad beyond. For example, NCHRE has hosted two national conferences and made a range of government submissions on human rights education in Australia. At present, NCHRE co-sponsors the International Conference on Human Rights Education “Educating for Human Rights, Peace and Intercultural Dialogue” to be held at the University of Western Sydney (Parramatta Campus) 11-13 November 2010
Establishment in 2007 of the National Centre for Human Rights Education at RMIT University in Melbourne.
Establishment of State and Territory networks to promote nationwide the Citizen of Humanity project as a flagship project focussing on students in primary and secondary schools. Its central objective is to provide human rights educational material for schools. A national project website provides free certificates to all participating schools.

Mr Patu Lui, Commissioner of the Vanuatu Police Force, is awarded Citizen for Humanity Certificate by Dr Sev Ozdowski OAM, NCHRE President, after participation with other Senior Police Officers in Human Rights Training in Port Vila on 16 September 2009
